Clostridium difficile toxins, especially TcdB, are commonly believed as the key virulence factor for the disease development of Clostridium difficile infections (CDI). We performed a genome-wide CRISPR screen and identified two independent receptors: CSPG4 and frizzled members. We further demonstrated that frizzled proteins are dominant colonic epithelial receptors for the toxin. This work interpreted how TcdB find its entryway on the colonic epithelia, which directly account for the initiation of CDI.
题目：A Central Catecholaminergic Circuit Controls Blood Glucose during Stress
摘要: The central nervous system is crucial for the regulation of energy balance and glucose homeostasis. However, when faced with an acute threat, how the brain coordinates physiological and behavioral responses to provide boosted energy supplies remains largely unknown. As a well-known fundamental adaptive response, stress-induced hyperglycemia provides a rapidly-accessible burst of energy for combating real or potential threats. Here, we found a hindbrain catecholaminergic neurons-mediated circuit mechanism that controls blood glucose levels during stress.
